Plenty of Talmage houses have been remodeled a piece at a time over the decades. Before the new kitchen, bath, or layout can go in, the old cabinets, flooring, drywall, and fixtures have to come out, and that part of the job is heavy, dusty, and easy to underestimate.
We handle the tear out so your remodeler can start on a clean shell. We walk the rooms with you, mark exactly what goes and what stays, protect floors and finishes in the rest of the house, and haul every load away. Older homes may need testing for asbestos before materials are disturbed, so we talk about that up front and build it into the plan. It’s the same approach for shops and outbuildings getting a new use.
We know the layered flooring, paneling, and patchwork remodels common in older Talmage ranch houses and plan for them.
We bring hand tools, demo gear, floor protection, and haul trucks, so tear out and cleanup finish on one trip.
If a gut job won't pay off, or materials need testing first, we'll tell you before any work starts.
We protect the rooms that stay, haul every load away, and leave a broom clean shell for your contractor.
Older ranch houses around Talmage rarely have just one layer of anything. It is common to find carpet over linoleum over wood, paneling nailed over plaster, or a kitchen that was updated twice without the old cabinets ever leaving. Each layer adds weight, time, and debris. We look at what is really there before quoting, pulling back a corner or checking under a register when it makes sense. That way the plan matches the house you have, not the one the last remodel made it look like, and your contractor isn’t waiting on us to finish a surprise. Old houses also tend to hide things like abandoned wiring, patched joists, or a covered up window, and we flag anything like that for you and your contractor as soon as it shows up.
Vinyl flooring, ceiling texture, joint compound, and pipe wrap from older homes can contain asbestos. Those materials should be tested before they are cut, pulled, or broken, and Utah DAQ has inspection rules that can apply to renovation as well as full demolition. If testing turns up asbestos, it gets handled by the right people before our crew starts. We would rather spend a little time on this at the start than expose your family or our crew to something that can’t be undone. If you already have test results from an earlier project, bring them to the walkthrough.
Interior demolition is selective. We take out only what is in the scope and protect the rest. A typical tear out list looks like this:
Bearing walls stay put unless your contractor or engineer has a plan for them. Plumbing and electrical should be shut off and capped by the trades before we start. If a wall holds wiring or pipes that are still live, we stop and check with you rather than guess.
Talmage sits at the far west end of our route, out past Altamont, which means a planned trip rather than a quick swing by. Interior jobs are a good fit for that because they run indoors and don’t depend much on weather. We line up the tear out to land just before your remodeler starts, so the house doesn’t sit gutted longer than it needs to. When the work is done, the loads leave through demolition debris removal for Talmage remodels, and you are not left with a dumpster sitting in the yard for weeks.
Not every interior job is a house. Ranch shops, tack rooms, and old outbuildings often get stripped out when they are converted to a new use. We remove old shelving, walls, insulation, and ceiling material down to the frame and slab. If the bare slab is going to become a work floor, it can be cleaned up and finished afterward, and an epoxy coating for a Talmage shop floor is one common next step once the interior is clear and the concrete is exposed. We can also leave certain shelving or benches in place if they still work for the new layout, so tell us during the walkthrough what is worth keeping.
Sometimes the walkthrough shows that a gut job won’t save the building. Rot in the floor framing, failing walls, or a foundation that has moved can make an interior remodel a poor investment. When that happens, we tell you plainly. Taking the structure down and starting fresh may cost less in the long run, and our structure demolition work in Talmage covers that path, including the asbestos inspection and notice steps. Either way, you get an honest read before any money is spent on tear out.
We walk each Talmage room with you, mark what goes and stays, and look under the surface for hidden layers.
Your written quote lists the tear out scope, testing needs, protection, and hauling, with timing set around your remodeler.
Our crew protects finished areas, removes everything in the scope, and keeps the mess contained as we work.
We walk the stripped space with you and your contractor, confirm the scope is done, and leave it broom clean.
