Weeds love the conditions around Randlett. Open ground, dry summers, and plenty of wind give hardy plants like kochia and cheatgrass the upper hand, and goatheads move into any bare patch along a driveway or walk. Once they drop seed, you’re looking at years of new sprouts from the same spot.
Our Randlett weed control service starts by identifying what is growing on your property and where. From there we pick the right approach for each area, whether that’s hand pulling in flower beds, cutting and clearing along fences, or targeted treatment in gravel and lawn. We time visits around how each weed grows, and we work with you on mowing, mulch, and watering habits that keep weeds from finding open ground.
We know the weeds that give Randlett properties the most trouble and when each one is easiest to stop.
Hand tools for beds, trimmers for fence lines, and targeted sprayers for gravel let us handle every type of area.
If a spot keeps filling with weeds because of bare ground or overwatering, we'll tell you what would actually fix it.
Pulled weeds and seed heads get bagged and hauled away instead of tossed in a pile to reseed the yard.
Most weed trouble on a Randlett property comes down to five plants: goatheads, bindweed, kochia, cheatgrass, and spurge. Each one grows a little differently, and that matters for how you fight it. Annuals like goatheads and kochia come back from seed every year, so stopping them before they seed is the main goal. Bindweed is a perennial with deep roots, so it takes repeated work over time. Knowing which weed you’re dealing with keeps you from wasting effort on the wrong approach.
On a spread out property, weeds also show up in more places than you might expect: along the lane, around the shop, in the gravel by the mailbox, and on the far side of the fence. We map out those trouble spots on the first visit so nothing gets missed later in the season.
Goatheads, also called puncturevine, grow flat to the ground in hot, compacted soil. That’s why they show up along gravel drives, road shoulders, and the edges of walks. Their spiny burs flatten bike tires and get into paws and shoes. Spurge loves the same spots and spreads into cracks and thin lawn edges. Both are easy to pull when young and a real headache once they mature, so early summer is when we watch hardest. Keeping a lawn thick with steady lawn mowing at a healthy height leaves less bare soil for either one to claim.
Field bindweed looks harmless, with small white flowers and twining vines, but its roots can run deep and spread sideways under beds and lawns. Pull the top and it sprouts again from the root. The answer is persistence: removing new growth again and again so the roots slowly run out of stored energy. In beds, a good layer of material on top helps a lot. Fresh mulch and rock beds over proper fabric make bindweed easier to spot and pull before it climbs your shrubs.
Randlett has plenty of open country, and open ground is where kochia and cheatgrass do best. Cheatgrass greens up early, dries out by early summer, and turns into a fire hazard near homes and outbuildings. Kochia grows fast through summer, then breaks off and rolls as a tumbleweed, dropping seed as it goes. We cut and clear these weeds along fences, lanes, and around structures before they seed. On larger areas that have been let go, our brush clearing crew can knock back heavy growth first so regular weed work has a clean start.
Randlett lies near the Uinta River, and along ditches and waterways in this area you’ll find Russian olive and tamarisk. Both are woody invaders that spread fast, crowd out other plants, and pull a lot of water from the soil. Small seedlings can be pulled or cut when they first show up along a ditch bank. Larger ones need more work. Catching them young on your property keeps a small chore from turning into a thicket.
Ditch banks also carry weed seed from upstream every time water runs, so the ground along them needs a look more than once a season. We check those edges on each visit and clear anything new before it has a chance to take hold.
Weed control works best as a plan that follows the calendar:
