Plenty of parcels around Manila have sat for years while sagebrush, rabbitbrush, and cheatgrass took over. Lots near the old hay fields can hide buried fence wire, broken implement parts, and rock that someone stacked along the edge a long time ago. Until all of that is gone, it is hard to tell where a house, cabin, or shop should really sit.
We start with a walk through so you can show us what stays. Then we take out the brush and small trees, deal with the stumps, pick up rock and scrap, and haul the whole lot of it away. Since Manila is a good distance from our home base, we schedule clearing for the drier months and line up the work so one trip covers as much as possible. You end up with a clean site and a clear next step.
We understand dry, rocky Lucerne Valley ground and the old field junk that tends to hide under years of brush.
We bring cutting, loading, and hauling equipment together so the parcel gets cleared and emptied on the same trip.
We will tell you straight what is worth keeping, what needs to go, and how the weather affects timing.
Brush, stumps, rock, and scrap all leave with us, and the site is raked clean before we pack up.
Manila sits at about 6,368 feet in the Lucerne Valley, and the town actually carried the name Lucerne for a while because of all the alfalfa grown here. A lot of the ground that is being split into home sites and cabin lots today used to be hay field, pasture, or the scrubby land between them. You can see that past the minute the first brush comes off.
Old field edges tend to collect everything. Rock that was picked out of the hay ground, coils of wire, rotted posts, and the odd piece of farm equipment can all be sitting under a few seasons of brush. We walk the parcel with you first, poke around the thick spots, and talk through what we find before any equipment rolls in.
Every lot is a little different, but most of what we pull off parcels out here falls into a few groups:
Anything we clear gets loaded and taken to an approved disposal site. If there are sheds full of junk or extra piles elsewhere on the property, our debris hauling in Manila can take that on during the same trip.
Manila averages around 38 inches of snow a year, and January lows hover near 12 degrees. Clearing frozen or muddy ground is a bad idea. Equipment ruts the soil, roots break off instead of coming out, and you lose more topsoil than you should. Late spring through fall is the sweet spot once the melt has dried out.
We are honest about distance too. Manila is a long haul for our crews, so we plan trips out ahead of time and group work in the area when we can. If a neighbor down the road is thinking about clearing, mention it when you call. Booking early in the season gives you the best shot at the dates you want.
Brush comes out quickly. Stumps and larger trees take a different approach. Whether a stump gets ground down or pulled out depends on what is going on that spot later. A stump under a future driveway or slab needs to come out roots and all, while one at the edge of a yard can usually be ground below grade and left alone.
When there are mature trees in the way, our tree and stump removal crew handles the cutting, grinding, and cleanup as part of the clearing job. Large rock gets moved to the side or hauled off, whichever you prefer.
With only about 11.5 inches of precipitation a year, good soil here is worth protecting. Scraping a lot down to bare dirt leaves you with blowing dust in summer and a hard time getting anything to grow later. We clear what needs to go and leave the surface as intact as we reasonably can.
If you plan to landscape, plant a windbreak, or seed a pasture after the build, holding on to that layer saves you money and frustration. We can also leave the native growth standing outside the area you actually need cleared. Sagebrush on the far side of a lot does a fine job of holding soil and slowing the wind, so there is rarely a reason to take it all.
Once the parcel is open, the next question is usually how water moves across it. Snowmelt in spring can sheet across a lot fast, and you want it heading away from your foundation. Grading for Manila home sites shapes the ground and sets the slope before the builder shows up.
Lining up clearing and dirt work together means fewer separate trips out to Manila and a cleaner handoff to whoever is building. We will walk the finished lot with you and talk through what makes sense next.
We walk the lot with you, flag trees and fences to keep, and check access, rock, and buried junk.

We cut brush and trees, handle stumps, pick up rock and scrap, and haul every load off the property.
We walk the cleared parcel together, confirm nothing you wanted saved was touched, and talk through grading or prep.
