Lapoint homes tend to come with more than one building. There’s the house, sure, but also a shop, a barn, a pump house, and maybe a shed that’s been standing longer than anyone can remember. Each one wears out a little every season, and the fixes rarely seem big enough to call a specialist, so they sit on a list that keeps getting longer.
That’s where general repairs come in. We patch and replace siding, fix doors and hardware, reattach trim and fascia, rehang gutters, replace broken glass, and handle the small carpentry jobs that keep a building tight. You hand us the list, we sort it by what matters most, and we’ll be honest about anything that’s bigger than a quick fix.
We understand how older farmhouses and outbuildings around Lapoint are put together, so our repairs fit the building instead of fighting it.
Our trucks carry saws, ladders, drills, and common building materials, so most items on your list get finished in one trip.
When a repair is bigger than it looked, we stop and show you what we found before spending any of your money.
We pick up offcuts, old nails, and broken parts as we go, leaving your yard and shop floor clean at the end of the day.
Lapoint started out under the name Taft before it was renamed for a point of the Uinta Mountains that juts south toward town. Plenty of the farmhouses and outbuildings here have been patched, added onto, and fixed up by several owners over the decades. That history shows up when we open a wall or pull a piece of trim. Framing sizes don’t match, old nails have rusted through, and one repair was often built right on top of another.
We go slow on older buildings and fix what’s actually there instead of forcing modern parts onto it. Sometimes that means building a custom piece of trim or shimming a door frame that’s settled out of square. The goal is a repair that fits the building and holds up, not one that looks new for a year and then pulls apart.
Barns, shops, and sheds tend to get ignored until something breaks. A sliding door that drags in the dirt, a sheet of metal siding flapping in the wind, or a man door that won’t close all the way lets snow and critters inside. Once winter sets in, those small problems get harder to reach and more expensive to deal with.
Fall is a good time to walk every outbuilding and make a short list. We rehang doors, replace damaged siding panels, reattach loose roofing edges, and fix the hardware on gates and latches. If corral or yard fencing near the barn has seen better days, our fence repair work can happen on the same visit.
Before we show up, it helps to walk your property with a notepad. Write down anything that’s broken, loose, leaking, or just bugging you. Don’t worry about grouping it, since we’ll sort it when we get there. A good list usually covers items like these:
From there, we put safety and water problems at the top, then work down to the cosmetic stuff. You get a clear picture of what each item takes, and you decide what gets done now.
Uintah County designs roofs for a 30 psf snow load, and most sound roofs carry that without trouble. The edges are where problems show up. Gutters get torn down by sliding snow, fascia boards rot where ice sits against them, and drip edge bends out of shape. Water then finds its way behind the siding and into the wall.
We repair and rehang gutters, replace rotted fascia, and fix the roof edge details that keep melt water moving away from the building. On low pitch roofs that collect heavy drifts, our roof snow raking service takes weight off the eaves before it causes damage.
Every so often, a simple repair uncovers something more serious. A soft spot on a porch turns out to be a rotted joist. A water stain on a ceiling traces back to failed flashing. When that happens, we stop, show you what we found, and explain your options before going any further.
We’d rather tell you a problem is bigger than you hoped than cover it with a patch that fails next season. If it’s work we can handle, we’ll quote it. If it needs a different trade, we’ll say so plainly so you know who to call next.
On a working farm, there’s never a good time to stop and fix the shop door. That’s why a lot of Lapoint owners save their list for a slower stretch and have us handle it in one go. We can schedule around irrigation turns, hay cutting, and calving so the work doesn’t get in the way of everything else.
Once the repairs are done, a good cleaning makes the whole place feel fresh again. Pressure washing the siding, porches, and concrete pads clears off the dust and grime that built up while things were broken. Call (801) 669-0512 to get your list on our schedule.
We walk your house and outbuildings with your list in hand, looking at each item and noting anything else that needs attention.
Your free quote prices the items one by one, so you can pick what to tackle now and what can wait a while.
We work through repairs in priority order, handling water and safety problems first and finishing with the cosmetic fixes.
Together we go over each finished repair, test doors and latches, and confirm nothing on your list was missed.
