The Bureau of Reclamation built Dutch John to house the crews who built Flaming Gorge Dam, and at the peak about 3,500 people lived here. Since the townsite went private in 1998 and the town incorporated in 2016, homeowners and businesses have taken over care of driveways and lots that were laid out long ago.
Today the town runs on dam and recreation area work and the visitors who come for the Green River below the dam. That brings boat trailers, campers, and anglers’ trucks onto local pavement every summer. We help Dutch John properties fix what’s aging and build new surfaces that handle visitor traffic.
