A sign only works if people can see it, and it can’t do that leaning, spinning, or face down in the gravel. Around Duchesne, wind, deep frost, and snow from passing plows all work against a sign every winter. Getting it up right the first time saves you from paying to set it again.
We don’t design or build signs. You work with your sign company on the look and the panel, and we handle the installation: setting posts at the right depth, mounting to walls, fences, or existing poles, and fastening the panel so it doesn’t twist or rattle loose. We also repair signs that have been knocked over, bent, faded loose, or hit by a vehicle. Business owners, property managers, and ranches all use the same service.
We know how Duchesne wind, frost, and plow traffic go after signs, so we set posts and mounts to stand up to it.
Augers, post setting gear, and mounting hardware let us install on posts, walls, fences, or existing poles.
If a sign needs a repair from your sign maker instead of us, we'll tell you so you aren't paying twice.
Old posts, broken concrete, crates, and packaging get hauled away so your entry looks finished.
Duchesne is a crossroads. US-40, US-191, and SR-87 all come together here, and traffic heading to Starvation Reservoir passes right through. Much of that traffic is people who don’t know town and are looking for gas, food, a place to park a trailer, or a shop that can help them. A clear, well placed sign is how they find you.
Placement matters as much as the sign. We look at sight lines from the road in both directions, how far back the sign needs to sit, and whether trees, parked trucks, or snow piles will block it. A sign that can only be read from one direction is doing half its job. We also think about winter, since a low sign near the road can disappear behind a plow berm for months. Raising it a bit or setting it farther back can keep it readable all year.
Basin installs and repairs signs. We don’t fabricate them. That split keeps things simple: your sign company handles design, panels, and lettering, and we handle posts, footings, brackets, and mounting. Before the sign arrives, it helps to have the finished size and weight, any mounting drawings from the maker, and a rough idea of where it should go. If the sign will be lit, have your electrician plan the wiring before we set posts so nobody has to dig twice.
We’ll also look at the panel when it shows up. If the mounting holes don’t line up with the brackets the maker sent, or a panel arrives damaged, we’d rather catch that before it goes on the posts than after.
Every gust that hits a flat panel gets passed down into the posts and the ground around them. Duchesne County uses a 30 inch frost depth for footings, so we set sign posts at least that deep, and deeper for big panels. Shallow posts heave a little each winter and start to lean. Before any hole goes in, we call Utah Blue Stakes at 811, since signs often sit near the road where buried utilities run.
If the spot needs to be leveled or built up first, our grading crew can shape the ground so the sign sits right and water drains away from the footings.
Most of the sign repairs we handle come from a short list of causes:
We reset, straighten, or replace posts and refasten panels. If the panel itself is damaged, we’ll remove it so your sign company can repair or replace it, then reinstall it when it’s ready.
Not every sign faces the highway. Oilfield service yards use gate signs and directional signs so drivers find the right entrance. Ranches and rural properties need entry and address signs that emergency crews can read from the road. Main Street businesses use wall signs, blade signs, and window frames. Paved lots need parking and traffic signs, and pairing those with fresh parking lot striping gives drivers a clear path in and out.
Once a sign is up, a little upkeep keeps it working. Trim brush and weeds that grow up in front of it each summer. Keep plowed snow from being piled against the posts. Check bolts after big wind events. Signs that sit dark through long winter evenings are easy to miss, and our permanent property lighting can help light the area around your sign. Call (801) 669-0512 and we’ll plan your sign install or repair.
We look at the spot, check sight lines from the road, and review the sign's size and mounting plans.

We call Blue Stakes, set posts below frost depth, and mount the sign level, tight, and facing traffic.
We look at the finished sign with you from the road and make sure every bolt and bracket is snug.
