Dinosaur is Colorado’s westernmost town and home to the Colorado Welcome Center, so a lot of the people driving through are seeing it for the first time. They decide fast where to stop for gas, food, or a room, and a clear, upright sign makes that decision easier. A sign that leans, flaps, or fades sends the opposite message.
Our signage installation and repair service covers post mounted signs, wall signs, ground signs, directional signs, and address markers. We don’t fabricate signs. We install what your sign maker builds, handle the posts and mounting hardware, and repair damage from wind, sun, and the occasional bumper. Since Dinosaur is far out on our route, we coordinate with your sign maker’s delivery and plan the trip around it.
We know most Dinosaur traffic comes off US-40, so we place and angle signs where travelers will actually spot them.
We bring augers, levels, ladders, anchors, and lifting gear sized for the job, so your sign goes up safely and straight.
If a damaged sign needs new panels from your sign maker instead of a patch, we'll say so before doing any work.
We clear away packing, cutoffs, and dug soil, and leave the ground around your sign smooth and neat.
US-40 runs along the north edge of town, and it’s the main way most visitors arrive. Many of them are heading to the Canyon Visitor Center, the monument headquarters about two miles east, or they just crossed the state line and pulled into the Colorado Welcome Center. With a tourism economy, a good share of your customers are making split second choices at highway speed. A sign that faces the right direction, sits at the right height, and isn’t blocked by brush or parked trucks gets noticed. One that’s tilted or tucked behind a pole gets passed.
That’s why every sign installation starts with a look from the road. We check sightlines from both directions before we pick a spot for the posts.
Let’s be plain about who does what. Basin is the install crew, not the sign shop. Your sign company handles the artwork, faces, cabinets, and lettering. We take it from there: setting posts, mounting brackets, fastening the sign to a wall or frame, and getting it level and secure. If the sign needs power for lighting, an electrician handles the wiring.
Coordination matters more out here. We’ll confirm the sign’s size, weight, and mounting style with your sign maker before scheduling, so the posts and hardware are ready when the sign is. That keeps us from making two long trips when one will do.
A big sign panel catches wind the way a boat catches it. Steady wind across open ground puts constant force on the posts, and over time that loosens anything set too shallow or in loose fill. We size posts to the sign, brace them while they set, and check plumb from two sides. Before any hole goes in, we contact Colorado 811, which needs at least two full business days’ notice, not counting the day of the call.
If your sign will be lit, conduit has to get from the building to the sign. Our utility prep and trench work digs and backfills that path, and your electrician runs the line.
Signs take damage in a few predictable ways. These are the repair calls that come up again and again:
For bent posts and loose hardware, we straighten, reset, or replace parts on site. Faded or cracked faces go back to your sign maker for new panels, and we reinstall them once they’re ready. If a sign gets hit, have us look at the posts too, since damage below grade isn’t always visible.
Not every sign is out on the highway. Lodging needs office and parking signs, rentals need clear address markers, and shops benefit from directional signs that guide people to the right door. The dinosaur named streets here, like Brontosaurus Boulevard and Tyrannosaurus Trail, are fun for visitors, but they still need visible address numbers when someone is searching after dark. Smaller signs get installed the same careful way as big ones: solid mounting, level faces, and placement people can actually see.
A clean sign reads better too. Dust and road grime dull sign faces over time, and pressure washing for storefronts and signs brightens them up, using a gentle setting on painted and plastic faces.
Plenty of travelers pull off US-40 after sunset, and an unlit sign might as well not be there. Lighting a sign, or the area around it, keeps your business visible through long winter evenings. Our permanent property lighting service can add fixtures around signs and entries. After installation, a quick check each spring and fall goes a long way: look for lean, loose bolts, and cracked faces, and call us before a small problem turns into a sign on the ground. We plan trips to Dinosaur on a schedule, so catching issues early makes repairs easier to fit in.
We check the location, sightlines, mounting surface, and soil, and confirm the sign's size and weight with your sign maker.
