Lawns up on the Altamont benchland have less time to work with than yards down lower in the Basin. Spring shows up late on the south slope of the Uintas, July afternoons climb to around 92 degrees, and the first hard frosts come early. A lawn that gets cut on a steady rhythm through that window stays thicker and handles the heat better than one that gets hacked down after a three week stretch.
Because Altamont sits far out on our route, we plan mowing trips ahead and keep each property on a set day so your lawn never gets skipped. Each visit covers mowing at the right height for the season, string trimming around posts and fences, edging along concrete, and blowing clippings off drives and walks. You get a yard that looks cared for all summer.
We know grass at this elevation greens late and fades early, so we set cutting heights around the real Altamont season.
Mowers sized for town lots and bigger grounds, plus trimmers, edgers, and blowers, let us finish each yard properly in one stop.
If a steep strip or dry corner would be better as rock or a bed, we'll tell you instead of mowing a losing fight.
Clippings are blown off walks and drives, gates get latched, and nothing gets left behind in your yard when we pull out.
Altamont sits up on the upper benchlands along SR-87, at about 6,391 feet on the south slope of the Uintas. That elevation changes how grass behaves. Cool nights keep growth slow in early spring, then the lawn takes off in late May and June when the water is on and the days get long. By midsummer, strong sun and dry air pull moisture out of the soil fast. A good mowing plan up here follows that curve instead of treating every week the same.
We mow for homeowners, landlords, churches, and small businesses in town and on the acreage around it, with each property on a regular route day.
Early in the year we cut a bit lower to clean up winter matting and help the soil warm. As July heat builds toward the low 90s, we raise the deck. Taller blades shade the root zone, slow evaporation, and keep weeds from finding open ground. Then in fall we bring the height back down a notch so the lawn goes into snow season without long, floppy grass that mats and holds mold under the drifts.
No matter the height, we stick to the rule of never taking more than about a third of the blade in one pass. Bigger cuts stress the plant and leave brown, chewed tips that take days to recover.
We won’t pretend Altamont is around the corner. Our crews head out from Vernal, so we plan mowing trips in advance and group Altamont, Altonah, and Bluebell properties on the same days. That planning is what keeps your lawn on a steady rhythm. Weekly service works best during the spring push, and some lawns can stretch to every other week once growth slows in late summer.
If your lawn has trouble spots, we can add other work on the same trip. A spring yard cleanup in Altamont before the first mow clears out winter debris so the mower isn’t chewing through branches and old leaves.
No two yards here are set up the same. A few things decide how we plan your service and how long each visit takes:
Seeing the same yard every week means we notice when something changes. Kochia popping up in a thin corner, goatheads creeping in from the road shoulder, or a strip that stays brown while the rest of the lawn is green. We’ll tell you what we spot so it gets handled early. A dense, well mowed lawn crowds out a lot of weeds on its own, and for the ones already rooted in, targeted weed control for Altamont yards can be added to your visits.
Clippings stay on the lawn when they’re light. They break down quickly and return moisture and nutrients to the soil, which matters in a dry climate.
Sometimes a lawn looks rough no matter how carefully it’s cut. If one zone stays crispy all summer, the cause is usually water, not the mower. A tilted head, a cracked line from a cold January, or a clogged nozzle can leave a dry arc in the same spot every week. Our sprinkler repair service can track those problems down so the grass has a fair shot.

We walk the lawn, mark slopes, gates, sprinkler heads, and obstacles, and ask how often you'd like it mowed.
Your free quote lays out mowing, trimming, and edging, plus the route day and visit frequency we'd suggest for the yard.
Each visit we mow with sharp blades at a seasonal height, trim and edge every border, and blow off hard surfaces.
After the first cut we check in, adjust anything you want changed, and keep your lawn on its regular route day.
